Lord Shiva's 3 Aspects

Lord Shiva is one of the three deities who govern all living beings in our local universe. He embodies "Tamas guna," while his brothers, Lord Brahman, represent "Rajas guna," and Lord Vishnu embodies "Sattva guna." Shiva is responsible for the dissolution and destruction aspect.

Lord Shiva has a wife, Parvati, and two sons, Lord Kartekaya and Lord Ganesh. Their realm is called "Shivlok or Sivalok."

SadaShiva is a higher aspect of Shiva. SadaShiva's consort is the goddess MahaGayatri, a form of Parvati often known as Manonmani in Agamic texts. Mount Kailash is considered SadaShiva's abode and the gateway from BrahmaJyoti to ParBrahmanda, where an even higher form of ParamShiva abides.

ParamShiva is the highest aspect of Shiva in Shaiva Siddhanta and Kashmir Shaivism. Below him are the primordial Shiva with the Parashakti and SadaShiva with seven Shaktis.

ParamShiva Path is one of the 10 main ParBrahmanda Paths that Souls traverse on their way to the True Divine Home in Sat Lok - Sach Khand.

Kashmiri Shaivism describes how reality, with all of its diversity and fluctuation, is the play of the single principle, ParamShiva. The two aspects of this single reality are inseparably united: Shiva and Shakti. ParamShiva appears as the world through his creative power, Shakti.

In terms of Body Chakras, Lord Shiva resides in the "Heart Lotus" within the body, which has 12 petals. He often remains in meditation.

Father of Lord Shiva

Surprisingly, Lord Shiva (The lowest form of Shiva) has parents. His father is Lord Brahm (Kal Niranjan), and his mother is Goddess Durga.

We have often heard that Lord Shiva is almighty, capable of anything, managing the entire universe. However, this is not the whole truth.

Age of Lord Shiva

According to holy books, Lord Shiva's age is 49 X 100 "Divine years" = 4900 "Divine years" = 15,240,960,000,000,000 earth years (15 quadrillion 240 trillion 960 billion years).

A supreme force, Sat Purush, determines when Lord Shiva is born and when he dies.

How Can Lord Shiva Help Us?

Lord Shiva can assist us to a certain extent. For example, reciting the mantra "Om Namah Shivayah" may help us align with the ParamShiva Path by rising upwards to the higher aspects of Shiva, i.e., SadaShiva and ParamShiva.

Lord Shiva Is Not the Supreme God

From what you have read so far, you might have realized that Lord Shiva is not the Supreme God of All. To reinforce this, let's look at a real incident documented in our holy scriptures. In this story, Shankar Bhagwan couldn't understand what his devotee Bhasmasura was thinking and had to flee for his life. You can read the full story in the next section, which is well-known among Hindu devotees. However, we often don't question why Lord Shiva, whom we consider Almighty, seemed helpless. It's important to note that Sat Purush is the Supreme God from whom all emanations and creation began.

Lord Shiva and Bhasmasura Story

There was a devotee named Bhasmagiri who worshipped Lord Shiva for 12 years in Sheershaasan (headstand). He bound Lord Shiva with a promise and obtained a bhasmkanda (a bracelet that turns someone into ashes when placed on their head and the word 'Bhasm' is said). Bhasmagiri's plan was to kill Lord Shiva and marry Parvati, Shiva's wife. After obtaining the bhasmkanda, he tried to kill Lord Shiva.

Lord Shiva ran in fear, and Bhasmagiri chased him. Then Lord Vishnu appeared as Parvati in front of Bhasmagiri. In this form, Lord Vishnu asked Bhasmagiri to dance. While dancing, Lord Vishnu made Bhasmagiri place his hand with the bhasmkanda over his own head and say "Bhasm," turning Bhasmagiri into ashes. From that day, Bhasmagiri became known as Bhasmasura, a demon.

Conclusion

Lord Shiva can assist us to a certain extent. For example, to align with the ParamShiva Path and rise upwards to the higher aspects of Shiva, i.e., SadaShiva and ParamShiva.

ParamShiva Path is one of the 10 main ParBrahmanda Paths that Souls traverse on their way to the True Divine Home.

As we have seen, Lord Shiva (The lowest form of Shiva) is one of the Trimurti and is in a cycle of birth and death. He worships another Supreme God, Sat Purush, and sometimes fears other powers, like Bhasmagiri. The Supreme God Sat Purush is not in the cycle of birth and death, fears no one, created everything, and is the Supreme Source of ALL.

One God who has all these qualities is Sat Purush and his emanation, Sant Kabir Das. Yes, the same Kabir whom we thought was just a saint, poet, and poor weaver of Kashi.
