Triggers Point Where You Are Not Free (Talk)
We discuss what triggers are during this video and explore the different types of triggers you might be experiencing. Triggers indicate where healing is needed; thus, it's an invitation to self-accept what has been rejected or neglected. Triggers show us the fragmented self; healing and self-acceptance is required. We call this unification. It is the only way we can truly free ourselves.
We all have experienced triggers, so let's clarify the differences between emotional, mental, psychological, and trauma triggers. A trigger reminds us of some memory stored in the body. It is usually repeated and relived in the present. Emotions and feelings are being activated, and memories, visions, and sensations in the body are activated in unpleasant ways. A trauma trigger activates a sense of unsafety in the present moment. Many times one cannot differentiate the difference or even have any clarity. Trauma is not in the event but in the body. Thus, we must learn how to regulate ourselves to slowly start to release the frozen energies from the nervous system. It's how we free ourselves.
